Job Summary:

This position is responsible for managing application development releases that can approach 30,000 hours per release not counting projects that are implemented in the same release cycle. The technology is diverse and spans distributed, mobile and mainframe applications. The candidate will also be a key contributor to overall process and tooling necessary to manage releases, as well as improvements to the release management process.

Primary Responsibilities:

•                      Plans release windows, cycles and release calendars across a portfolio

•                      Manages risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality

•                      Measures and monitors progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations

•                      Coordinates release content and effort based on the service request backlog, pending service requests, third party applications, or operating system updates

•                      Communicates all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, QA plans, schedule, and scope changes

•                      Manages Stakeholders, relationships and coordinates work between different teams at same or different locations

•                      Ensures that an appropriate deployment/distribution plan is in place

•                      Acts as a liaison between the RTE and Scrum Masters

•                      Manage daily builds

•                      Create build release notes for each build

•                      Analyze results and report problems to appropriate individuals

•                      Create and support tools to assist with the migration of application components to target environments

•                      Ensure all environments contain correct versions of code and data

•                      •    

•                      Conducts Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews

•                      Produces, as appropriate, Deployment Plans, Run Books and Implementation Plans

•                      Communicates release details and schedules to the Business as required

•                      Works with release engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges

•                      Maintains the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key partners and vendors.

•                      Continually work towards making improvements in the release process

•                      Leads and co-ordinates the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists.

•                      Maintains a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists

•                      Researches new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs.

Secondary Responsibilities:

•                      Acts as a mentor for Team Members.

•                      Shows the ability to work within deadlines and be flexible with changing priorities.

•                      Shows strong communication skills – both written and verbal – with the ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical team members, as well as executive through staff level positions within the company.

•                      Develops a detailed knowledge of multiple department’s products, applications and processes.

•                      Supports other members within IT and end-user departments to ensure the successful implementation of releases

•                      Identifies and communicate departmental training needs to Senior Management.

•                      Identifies technology changes that could improve internal processes/procedures or alter the production processes associated with the end product and work with Senior Management to implement said technologies.

•                      Other duties and projects as assigned.

Business Relationships:

•                      This role’s primary relationships are with the leadership of the IT organization and technical and business leads throughout the organization.

 

Experience & Qualifications 

•                      Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering Field        Required

•                      M.B.A. or Master’s Degree in Technology or Business Systems    Desired

•                      Preferred---At least 5 years’ experience in delivering Business or Technology systems and Complex System Integration Solutions within large scale organizations.      

•                      Required---At least 5 years’ experience in the following: Expert in Agile Methodologies, Sprints & code management, release management project techniques, application life cycle, ALM tools, Rally, and IT project management          

•                      Required---At least 5 years’ experience in leading engagements that deliver complex IT releases with tangible results, working across organizational boundaries, and interfacing with IT and business leaders.     

•                      Required---At least 5 years’ experience in understanding current technology trends and their impact on release management          

•                      Required---At least 5 years’ experience in developing team relationships.           

•                      Required---At least 5 years’ experience delivering within a release management environment

Responsibilities:

-           Provide resource management support to the IT managers.

o          Process onboarding, offboarding and change requests for employees and contractors within established service level agreements (SLA).

o          Ensure the master resource list is always up to date and accurate.

o          Maintain the seating chart/floor plan.

o          Update organization charts and distribution lists.

o          Provide input into the monthly scorecards to track organizational effectiveness in the area of resource management.

-           Provide PC Coordinator services for Business Insurance users.

o          Process hardware/software/cell phone requests and provide regular status updates to the requestors.

o          Track equipment distributions and returns.

o          Process system access requests.

-           Provide administration support for the time reporting system.

o          Create/assign timecard tasks.

o          Produce weekly status reports and data feeds.

-           Provide work order administration support for contractor labor.

o          Coordinate with IT managers and suppliers to define and create work orders.

o          Create change orders, as requested/required.

Requirements:

-           Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required. Knowledge of MS Project and Access is a plus.

-           Ability to prioritize assigned work, as well as identify and set milestones.

-           Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems without delay and/or to seek managerial intervention and operate under stressful, time-sensitive deadlines.

-           Ability to work directly with customers to ensure successful completion of objectives.

-           Ability to coordinate small projects and keep them on time and on budget.

-           Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

-           Strong organizational skills.

-           Minimum years of experience required: 1 (but education can be substituted for this).
